While driving, it's always good to stop and stretch. Now, if this stopping and stretching involves food, so much the better. On our last drive on I75 in Ohio, we stopped in the town of Findlay - we'd heard about a fantastic homemade ice cream and chocolates store. What's not to love?

Fall in Michigan - it's glorious! Colorful leaves, mist on the lake in the early mornings - and even rainbows, and northern lights this week. We see Canadian geese, ducks of all sorts, the great blue heron, and the eagle fishing. Leaves float by, the lilypads curl up in the cold. Frost limns the leaves at the water's edge (we really should finish raking). Here's a glimpse of our lake this week:

I am a firm believer in learning about things and places which are unfamiliar.  When we explore new things, we learn about others - and ourselves. One such book I've read recently is truly an exploration of a culture entirely different from my own.
